Grateful Dead "Skeleton and Roses" San Francisco concert poster by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, 1966

Second printing of Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley's Grateful Dead "Skeleton and Roses" poster, advertising two concerts on September 16 and 17, 1966 at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.

"An illustration by Edmund J. Sullivan cut with a pen-knife from a library copy of a 19th-century of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam was appropriated for one of the most iconic concert posters of the 1960s. Nefarious beginnings, perhaps, but the results are both timeless and legendary."
