Luigi Emilio Caldanzano's Lenti Radio-Attive lithograph, c. 1914
Lithograph for Luigi Emilio Caldanzano’s Art Nouveau advertisement for Lenti Radio-Attive, which marketed “radioactive” eyeglass lenses claiming to allow the user to see bodies through clothing. This work was published as one of 70 plates in the Ricordi Portfolio by Officine Ricordi in Milan, 1912. While originally founded as a printing house for operatic and musical scores in 1808, the adoption of stone lithography on a larger scale in 1891 enabled Ricordi to become one of the leading print houses in Italy, contributing to the rise of the Italian poster.
The inscription “L. Caldanzano / Off. G. Ricordi and C. Milano / 100 x 140" is printed underneath the image. Signed in the plate.
This piece is presented in an archival-quality rag mat and arrives accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
