The Century Guild Salon Discord

The Century Guild Salon Discord aims to build a meaningful and inspiring resource for all who value an enduring connection to books and art.

During the late 19th century, select circles of artists, writers, and intellectuals met in artists’ studios to discuss and debate topics covering philosophical, literary, artistic, and cultural aspects of society. These gatherings were known as salons and are often associated with Parisian culture, environments designed for stimulation, inspiration, and new ideas shared among various economic and cultural backgrounds.

We're delighted to announce the expansion of the Century Guild Salon with our new Discord server! What started as our monthly livestream hosted by Thomas Negovan is now growing into an “after-hours at the museum” experience on Discord where members are invited to expand the conversation around books, art, music, history, and more through chat and voice channels.

Join the Discord Salon here!

Reminiscent of the spontaneous conversations that naturally took place in the late hours after exhibitions in the Century Guild gallery space, the Discord will provide a similar experience in an online format, and the Century Guild Salon livestream will continue on the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm Pacific Time.

All Patreon members at the $1/month tier or higher will have access to the Salon, plus all other online, member-only resources offered through the Century Guild Community, including:

  • The Century Guild Salon livestream, a monthly discussion hosted by Century Guild founder Thomas Negovan where we explore art, books, history, and the stories that connect them. Participants are encouraged to join the discussion by sharing questions and comments during the livestream.

  • A weekly video series called "Thomas Negovan Recommends” where Tom shares essential book picks from his personal library.

  • Weekly “Let’s Judge a Book by its Cover!” posts exploring a beautiful, strange, or eye-catching book from the Century Guild library.

  • Behind-the-curtain glimpses into Tom's creative projects and collaborations.

  • Early Century Guild project announcements.

Discord FAQ

  •  What is Discord?

Discord is a communication platform designed for creating communities. Think of it like a combination of a message board and a chatroom, where people with similar interests can gather, share, and chat through text or voice chat.

You can access Discord on your computer or mobile device, and you can engage at your own pace or comfort level. It’s user-friendly, with an interface that's intuitive even for those who prefer books to technology!

  • What is the Century Guild Salon Discord?

The Century Guild Salon is designed to create an “after-hours at the museum” experience on Discord where members are invited to expand the conversation around books, art, music, history, and more through chat and voice channels.

Our aim is to create a space for all who value an enduring connection to books and the arts. While many channels are designed to share how we incorporate creative experiences into our lives, whether that's through book collecting, painting, buying records, or oiling antique furniture, there are others designed for casual, punny, and pet-friendly connections.

  • Is this related to the Century Guild Salon monthly livestreams with Thomas Negovan? Will you continue to offer these?

Yes! What started as our monthly livestream hosted by Thomas Negovan has inspired our expansion to a Salon Discord where members are invited to continue the livestream conversations around books, art, music, history, and more. The Century Guild Salon livestream will continue on the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm Pacific Time and is available to all community members at the $1/month level or higher.
  • What happens if I cancel my Century Guild Community membership on Patreon after joining the Discord server?

If you cancel your Century Guild Community membership, you will lose access to the Discord server unless you decide to rejoin.
  • Can I invite my friends to the Discord?

All are welcome to join! The Salon is offered to all Community members at $1/month and above, so once a member signs up, they’ll have immediate access to join the Salon.
