Princess Hyacinth (1911) Limited Edition Museum Print
A limited edition fine art print created directly from the rare original 1911 Alphonse Mucha poster Princezna Hyacinta.
About the edition print:
Created in 1911 to celebrate the premiere of Ladislav Novák and Oskar Nedbal’s ballet-pantomime at the National Theater in Prague, Alphonse Mucha’s Princezna Hyacinta poster is rich in mystical imagery and a quintessential example of the artist’s unique ornamental Art Nouveau style.
The ballet explores classic fairy tale themes of true love and good versus evil through the story of a village blacksmith who falls asleep and dreams of obtaining a legendary treasure. In the dream his daughter, magically transformed into the Princess Hyacinth, is abducted by the dark sorcerer Aratron and then rescued by the humble knight Zvonimír.
Actress Andula Sedláčková is pictured as the luminous Princezna Hyacinta, crowned with delicate stars and hyacinth flowers on a celestial throne of hearts, alchemical implements, and blacksmith’s instruments.
To create this edition print, we'll use a high-resolution image file captured directly from the original 1911 poster in the museum archive. The superior image quality ensures that the subtle details and colors of the original artwork are preserved, so that the print you receive is both beautiful and faithful to the original artwork.
